LA CONTENTA IDENTITY
Restaurant branding, 2024
La Contenta is a Mexican restaurant in New York City with deep cultural roots. For the rebrand, I drew inspiration from traditional Mexican Talavera tile patterns, known for their rich history, intricate geometry, and vibrant colors. My goal was to create a visual identity that honors this heritage while feeling fresh and modern — capturing both the warmth of Mexican landscapes and the energy of the city’s dynamic dining scene.

Rather than directly replicating Talavera patterns, I experimented with abstracting and simplifying their elements to create a fresh visual language. I focused on capturing the rhythm and structure of the tiles through geometric shapes and repetition, aiming to balance modern minimalism with cultural authenticity. This approach allowed the brand to feel rooted in tradition while appealing to a contemporary audience.
